We come together to celebrate and preserve the Scandinavian culture that our immigrant ancestors brought to the U.S.

Our Mission

To foster the development of an appreciation and understanding of the history, culture, art, music, and languages of the Nordic countries and of contributions made by Nordic immigrants and their descendants to the United States. We will produce and promote educational and cultural events to further understanding.

To encourage the study of Nordic history, culture and languages by college and university students through voluntary grants and contributions for scholarships to recognized institutions of higher education.

To help facilitate the international exchange of students between the United States and the Nordic countries. Events can include folk art demonstrations and classes, participation in ethnic enrichment and heritage festivals, excursions to Nordic events in the Midwest, musical and educational programs and social events such as the Christmas Banquet. Forty-five percent of profits in each of the above categories will go to the Scholarship Fund.

Since 1994, the Scandinavian Association has given away $24,000 in scholarships to three colleges with Scandinavian heritage, Bethany College, Luther College, and Dana College.
