Leaf-peeping hike at Watkins Mill State Park

Let's meet at one of Missouri's beautiful state parks, Watkins Mill, for a 3.8 mile (or less) hike around the lake! The trail around the lake is flat and paved, appropriate for wheelchairs. If you want a shorter hike, you can do an out-and-back route. Bring a bike if you prefer. Picnic tables and restrooms are available on the hike.

If you don't want to hike, this park has a lot to offer. There's a visitors' center, 1870s woolen mill and the Watkins house of the same era. The mill is the only 19th century textile mill in the United States with its original machinery still intact. The site's visitor center has an introduction to the Watkins family and their many business ventures.
